A Farewell

They came.
They worked hard.
They made a difference.
Now they're leaving.

Yes, the Ausels are leaving Juneau.  Heading back to their home town of Anchorage.  We had an impromptu going away party for them this weekend.  A chance for some of us to say our goodbyes as they start on their next adventure.

They'll be in town for a few more weeks, but life will get crazy for them as everyone pulls them in different directions.

Lion Joey has been a Lion for her entire life practically and brought her knowledge, skills, and ideas to our club.  She was our Club Secretary and received the District's Secretary of the Year for 2011-2012.  During the 2012-13 year she was our President.  Lion Chad joined our club in 2010 and  was Tailtwister in 2012-13, bringing fun back into the meetings.

We wish them the best as they begin their next adventure.  And hope they find a new Lions Club that is just perfect for them.

Litter Pick Up

In Juneau we have a lot of roads that take you no where.... dead ends.  But our most important dead end is the road leading to the Mendenhall Glacier.  The Mendenhall Flying Lions is tasked with keeping this roadway clean of litter.

We did our first pickup of the year last week.  Thanks to Lions Neil, Soapy, Becky, and Tommy and three scouts and their leader from Boy Scout Troop 247!

Induction of New Officers 2014-2015

We inducted incoming officers at last week's meeting.  Most of us were there, but a couple were otherwise busy.
Lion Mike Norton, President

Lion Becky Allison, Secretary

Lion Allen Butner, Treasurer

Lion Neil Atkinson, Membership Chair

Lion Nancy Norton, Vice President

Lion Tommy Dawson, Lion Tamer/Tail Twister

We have a great team of officers coming on board July 1, who are excited about doing their jobs!
Lion Mike N. has indicated there will be some changes this next year and Lion Tommy is already planning on increasing our Tail Twister account considerably!  Lion Allen is going to bring our financial records into the 21st century and Lion Neil is planning on joint orientation of new members with the Juneau Club.  This is just some of what you can expect this next year!

Please welcome the 2014-15 officers!
